My name is Trina and I’m based in Roberts Creek on BC’s Sunshine Coast. My studio is my place of creativity and fun! I cut, stitch, assemble, and sew each and every product myself. My shop supervisors, Polly and Sparrow keep me company, model for photos, and taste test all the treats :)
I’m a big believer in using the best quality materials I can find for our products. Most of our fabrics are Oeko-Tex certified and contain no harmful chemicals, for example. To find out more about the materials that go into making your collars and leashes, click the “safety nerds” link below:

Hey pups: we are so glad you’re here!
Our names are Polly and Sparrow: we are the chief technical advisors, general supervisors, and occasional models at Bonar & Clark Dog Gear.
We live on the Sunshine Coast in BC, Canada, and share our house with three cats, our mom, and dad.
We love the beach, going for walks, camping, and hanging out in hooman mom’s workshop while she makes cool dog stuff. We’ll be the first to admit that we really like the “treat jar” part of her workshop the best.
Our mom’s name is Trina and her aim is simple: to give you stylish, comfortable, quality dog gear that you will love. We know our mom spent a lot of time searching for fun and interesting stuff for us and never really found anything “just right”, so mom decided to make her own collars for us.
One thing led to another (as it does with hoomans) and here she is offering you all of the same great gear that we love to wear!
We get to test out new ideas and designs (in exchange for treats) and when mom is happy with them, she makes them for you too. Our mom loves making dog gear that is fun, funky, and most of all, functional. She’s a bit (a lot) of a perfectionist too.
You’ll notice that our mom is really passionate about dogs (with every sale, we’re sending donations to dog rescues on your behalf!).
Without further ado, we know how much you love going walkies and showing off your cool gear, so let’s go pick some new favourites for you!
Ask your hoomans to come and look around with you ... it is so hard to click those little buttons with great big paws!
Can we have some treats now, mom???
The name “Bonar & Clark” is a dedication to two of my favourite people: my mom and my grandpa.
I grew up sitting on a stool beside my mom’s sewing machine. We talked and I watched as she created everything you can imagine with fabric and thread. Teddy bears were my favourites, closely followed by life-sized dolls and Santa’s for Christmas.

I grew up sitting on a stool beside my mom’s sewing machine. We talked and I watched as she created everything you can imagine with fabric and thread. Teddy bears were my favourites, closely followed by life-sized dolls and Santa’s for Christmas. I love the sound of a sewing machine at work and love the memories it brings of my mom’s work.
Grandpa Clark was a kind and gentle man who loved the outdoors and dogs. Following the Great Depression, grandpa would hunt for small game to keep his family fed and raised his dogs to accompany him on his trips. To this day, my mind holds a special place for those cool autumn days in workshop: the wood stove warming us, his dog sleeping on the floor, and grandpa telling us of his travels and adventures on the backroads through our province. I give full credit to my grandpa for my love of dogs (and adventures!).
My own sewing career began when my son was born and I started making my bedding for his cradle and crib, then taking orders for custom bedding sets, and eventually wholesaling to baby stores.
Fast forward a few (a lot of) years and two dogs later, my quest for well made, fun, and functional dog collars and leashes has found me back at my machines again and loving every minute of it!

Two really easy ways to measure your dog for a new collar:
- take your dog’s existing collar off and lay it flat on a ruler to find the size you need
- take a piece of string and wrap it around your dog’s neck where the collar would usually sit, then measure the string against a ruler.
The most common leash length is 6’ which allows your dog a little freedom when appropriate. When you need to keep your dog close (like on a busy sidewalk) you can roll some of the length on your hand to shorten the leash.
If you spend most of your time walking in areas that you prefer to keep your dog close, you might want to consider a shorter leash to simplify your life.
there are lots of variables in dog bandanas! some like them long and some like them short - some like to roll and some like them flat.
the choice is yours as all of our bandanas are made to order! we have some standard sizes in the shop but we understand that every pup is different. we will happily custom make a bandana to your preference when you send us your dog’s neck measurement.
